Britcon 2008

Britcon 2008

The University of Manchester

 15-17 August 2008

I've never been interested in Wargaming on a competition level and so Britcon held no major excitement for me, it was just another chance to demonstrate to my fellow wargamers the speed and power of War Glue. However I left Manchester with a completely different view of competition wargamers and that whole side of the hobby. The guys BHGS lads could not have been friendlier or more eager to make the War Glue team welcome. I would like to take this opportunity to put my thanks in writing. I'll certainly be looking forward to making the trip in 2009. I'd also like to thank the guys from MAWS yet again I'm starting to almost feel at home with the guys rather than just being "Geoff's mate who has the good glue."

Some pictures from the Britcon 2008...

Britcon viewed from the War Glue stand during a break in the gaming.

Back hard it in the second "side room" room where War Glue were represented by MAWS member Geoff Pearson. Geoff enjoyed mixed fortunes winning more than he lost before Brian Pierpoint ended his dreams of finishing third overall in the DBMM competition. Unfortunately our photographer did not include Geoff in action.

The War Glue Challenge bit tray carrying everything from foam to steel, resin ad white metal were the favourite challenges followed by plastics (of various types) and woods .

One of the show organisers Colin Betts with his bottle of War Glue. "I'd heard about War Glue, and now I've seen it for myself there was nothing else for it but to buy some."

War Glue convert Mac from Liverpool Wargames Association got his bottle of War Glue at Phalanx but was more than happy to pose for this shot when he visited the stall for a chat about how pleased he is with War Glue.

A GREAT THURSDAY NIGHT OUT FOR WAR GLUE AT C.A.C.K

Thursday nights down at C.A.C.K who meet at the St Mary’s Parish Centre, West Street, off Devonshire Road, Chorley, is the place to be for all war gamers from around the area as we found out when we popped in on one of their club nights this Thursday  (29-05-08).

We where given a warm welcome by Chairman Jonathan Taylor-Yorke and all the other club members.
We would like to offer a special thank you to Justin Taylor of Veni Vidi Vici fame who was very gracious to not only cut into his gaming time but even made room for us on his table for some live demonstrations to show what our war glue was capable of.

Many of the C.A.C.K  members gave our war glue some tough testing on metal, resin, wood and plastic and we are happy to report it won the battle and came through with flying colours.

After such a intense engagement it was only fitting that we retreated to he bar where we enjoyed a great couple of hours in the company of Bob and Jan of Ribble Warriors Wargaming Club and CACK stalwart JT-Y before leaving them in peace to chew the cud over Trollbowl '08.
